Today’s children and youth are inundated with career choices and they are in a dilemma to select the right education path. On the other hand, there are children who want to follow the popular/peer career options without understanding their aptitude, talent, and interest in that domain. Students are very confused about which is the right stream, which course to take up after 10th and 12th, which examination to prepare for, and how to prioritise them. The most important factor in achieving success of any kind is correct time management. So, planning and controlling how much time to spend with each activity and learning to prioritise will help an individual de-clutter, focus better, and achieve success.
Counselling from an early stage could help one gain the right perspective, especially with the number of new career options coming up every day, which would otherwise not be considered by students. Early counselling assists students in reflecting on their personalities and abilities, likes and dislikes, and how these would align with various career paths. This would help students have a focused approach in their search for a suitable university for continuing their higher education and realising their career aspirations.
